MOSCOW, December 4. /TASS/. The NATO infrastructure near the borders of Russia and Belarus, along with the situation in the Eastern European region, does not rule out any scenario, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Imangali Tasmagambetov said.
"Undoubtedly, our organization is closely monitoring the situation in the Eastern European part of the CSTO's zone of responsibility, and we see NATO's offensive infrastructure approaching the western borders of Belarus and Russia. The intensification of military activity and the geopolitical turbulence that we see could lead to any scenario," he said.
At the same time, the CSTO chief pointed out that NATO’s attempt to invade Russia and Belarus would be sheer foolishness. "We all know very well that Russia has updated its nuclear doctrine, making significant amendments, as well as testing its newest Oreshnik hypersonic intermediate-range ballistic missile in combat conditions. This weapon has so far no equivalents in the world, which is something that potential adversaries cannot ignore. That is why, hypothetically speaking, a NATO intervention on the western borders of Belarus and Russia would be sheer foolishness," Tasmagambetov emphasized.
