MOSCOW, January 30. /TASS/. The main focus of the EU and NATO is preparing for an allegedly inevitable military confrontation with Russia, and huge resources are being allocated for this purpose, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said.
"If we summarize everything that is happening and closely follow the evolution of the strategic doctrines and policies of the EU and NATO countries, we can probably say that the main focus is on preparing society, the economy, military organizations, and infrastructure for an ‘inevitable’ military confrontation with Russia. Huge resources are being allocated for this," the senior diplomat emphasized at a press conference.
According to Grushko, strategic documents are becoming increasingly hostile. "Russia is no longer positioned as an immediate threat in NATO or EU documents. Rather, Russia is now viewed as a long-term threat," he stressed.
Thus, the deputy foreign minister noted that, in their view, Russia "will always be a threat, even beyond the horizon of a potential Ukrainian settlement." "The information space is being silenced even more, and persecution is intensifying not only against those who dare to express an alternative point of view but also against those who dare to ask questions about the essence of what is happening. And, of course, we are studying all this carefully," Grushko pointed out.
