MOSCOW, February 21. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Brazilian counterpart Mauro Vieira discussed the need to address the root causes of the crisis in Ukraine and a number of other international issues, including the Russian-US contacts in Riyadh, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"During the exchange of views on the Ukrainian crisis, a number of other international and regional issues, Sergey Lavrov informed about the results of the Russian-US contacts held in Riyadh, pointed to the need to take into account the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis in the work of the Friends of Peace Group created by the Global South with the participation of Brazil," the statement on the results of the meeting said.
The ministry pointed out that during the conversation the top diplomats discussed topical issues on the bilateral agenda, in particular, the schedule of planned contacts at high and highest levels, compared their approaches to the main areas of cooperation between Moscow and Brasilia at key multilateral platforms, including within BRICS.
