Zelensky’s should participate in UNSC meeting personally — Russian diplomat

Russia has repeatedly stressed that the Ukrainian president’s participation in the online format is a violation of the procedure

UNITED NATIONS, November 24. /TASS/. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky should take part in the UN Security Council meeting personally, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said on Wednesday.

"First of all, we would like to repeat our position concerning the Ukrainian president’s virtual participation in today’s meeting. We have said it more than once that we are not against his participation, but this participation should be personal. It is required by the rules that have been regulating the work of the Security Council for more than 75 years," he said at a UN Security Council meeting.

"It looks like Zelensky is not taking part in the meeting," he said. "We have probably heard his another video address. And Mr. Zelensky has never been present at any of the Council meetings he addressed to the end. Most likely, he has not been present a second."

Nebenzya joined the UN Security Council meeting during Zelensky’s online speech. Russia has repeatedly stressed that the Ukrainian president’s participation in the online format is a violation of the procedure.
