Over 168,000 people left without electricity in Dagestan due to bad weather

According to the Russian Ministry of Energy, the restoration of power supply is carried out by 75 teams of power engineers

MAKHACHKALA, February 23. / TASS /. Massive power outages took place in the Republic of Dagestan due to strong winds in gusts of up to 35 m/s, leaving approximately 168,600 people been left without power, according to the Russian Ministry of Energy statement on Tuesday.

"The Russian Ministry of Energy has taken on special control the restoration of power supply in the Republic of Dagestan, where from 08:00 am to present, according to Rosseti, due to a very strong wind with gusts of up to 35 m/s outages took place in distribution networks 6-10 kV, (Rosseti Northern Caucases - Dagenergo). Some of the household consumers in four districts (about 168,600 people) remained without power supply," the report said.

"The restoration of power supply is carried out by 75 teams of power engineers. The Dagenergo branch is working under the emergency mode," according to the Ministry.

More than 150 people and 52 pieces of equipment were involved in the liquidation of the accident.
