Rescue teams earlier discovered bodies of three dead sailors, while six were saved

MOSCOW, January 18. /TASS/. Turkish rescue teams discovered the body of Vitaly Galenko, the captain of the Arvin freighter that sank in Turkish waters, the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport of Russia announced Monday.

"The dead was identified as Vitaly Galenko, a Russian citizen, the captain of the ship," the Agency told TASS, adding that the information was provided by the Turkish coast guard.

Five people remain at sea, the source said.

The Arvin sank in the Inkumu District of the Bartyn province on January 17. According to the Federal Agency, there were 12 people onboard, two of whom were Russian nationals and the rest - Ukrainians. The Agency disclosed that the ship was owned by Arvin Shipping LTD, a Ukrainian company. According to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s preliminary report, the ship sank due to a strong storm. Earlier, the rescue teams discovered bodies of three dead sailors, while six were saved.
