Hainan will host its annual tourist carnival in December

The province will hold more than 100 events from December 1 to 31, according to The Paper

HONG KONG, November 22. /TASS/. China's southern province of Hainan will hold the annual international Hainan Island Carnival in December, which will be held for the 24th time this year, The Paper digital news portal reported.

According to the newspaper, more than 100 events will be held in the province from December 1 to 31. Haikou, Hainan's administrative center, will act as the main venue. Additional venues will be set up in cities such as Wanning, Wenchang, Danzhou, Sanya and Qionghai.

The carnival program includes the Recreational Tourism Exhibition, the International Tourism and Food Exhibition, and the International Tourism Equipment Exhibition, among others. The island will also host an international wedding festival, a film festival, various sports competitions and many other events aimed at developing tourism in December.

According to the news portal, key tourist attractions in the province as well as shopping centers, duty-free stores and other tourism-related places will offer discounts and incentives as part of the carnival.

Fu Fenghua, an official from Hainan's Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports, said this year's carnival is of special significance as it is the first festival to be held on a full scale after three years of the pandemic.

Hainan's tourism carnival is held annually in December and are organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the PRC in cooperation with the provincial government. The purpose of these comprehensive events is to stimulate consumption and strengthen the international status of the island as one of the most lucrative travel destinations.

Tourism and Consumption Center

Hainan's goal is to become an international center of tourism and consumption by 2025. The Chinese island is often compared to the American state of Hawaii; natural landscapes, tropical forests, a developed network of hotels combined with beaches and a coastline stretching over 1.9 thousand kilometers attract visitors from the most distant parts of the world.
