Iran hits Qatar Energy oil tanker with cruise missile — Qatari defense ministry

An operation was carried out in coordination with the competent authorities to evacuate the crew, with the incident resulting in zero casualties

DOHA, April 1. /TASS/. Iran has targeted an oil tanker chartered by the Qatari state-owned oil and gas company Qatar Energy with a cruise missile in Qatar’s territorial waters, the Qatari defense ministry reported.

According to the ministry, on April 1, Iran launched three cruise missiles at Qatar. "Our armed forces <...> successfully intercepted two of them, while the third one struck an oil tanker chartered by Qatar Energy in the territorial waters of the State of Qatar," the ministry indicated in its statement.

The defense ministry specified that there were 21 crew members on board the vessel. An operation was carried out in coordination with the competent authorities to evacuate the crew, with the incident resulting in zero casualties.
