WASHINGTON, December 12. /TASS/. The United States will continue to provide arms to Israel until the country is completely rid of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas, US President Joe Biden said at a White House reception marking the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah.
"We’ll continue to provide military assistance to Israel until they get rid of Hamas, but we have to be careful," Biden said. He warned, however, that the world community's view of the situation could change because of the nature of Israel's military operations. "The whole world’s public opinion can shift overnight, we can’t let that happen," the American leader pointed out.
Biden emphasized that the US will continue to provide humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. "We will continue to lead the world in humanitarian assistance to innocent Palestinian civilians, to emphasize to our friends, our Israeli friends, we need to protect civilian life," he said.
The US president also expressed concern about the rise of anti-Semitism in the US and around the world in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. "A surge in antisemitism in the United States of America and around the world - it’s sickening," Biden pointed out. He added that the US has no intention of turning its back on the problem.
