Armenia yielded to West’s pressure on Mir cards issue — Russian Foreign Ministry

Costs from termination for Mir card operations in the country will be higher for Armenia than the potential Western restrictions, Maria Zakharova added

MOSCOW, April 3. /TASS/. Moscow notes with regret that Yerevan yielded to West’s pressure on the issue of Mir cards functioning in Armenia, official spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said at a briefing.

"We state with regret that Yerevan yielded to West’s pressure on this matter also," she noted.

Costs from termination for Mir card operations in the country will be higher for Armenia than the potential Western restrictions, the Russian diplomat added.

The press service of the Russian National System of Payment Cards informed earlier that the System received an official notice from the payment system of Armenia that servicing of Mir cards by the banks - ArCa members would be halted from March 30.
