MINSK, February 20. /TASS/. The West's goal is to inflict a global defeat on Belarus and Russia and then divvy up their territories, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said at a meeting with the senior staff of the state bodies of the national security system.
"They in Europe believe that, literally, 'territorial changes should take place as a result of this war (the conflict in Ukraine - TASS). Poland has legal claims to parts of modern Belarus. And democratic Belarus should receive a part of the territory of defeated Russia as compensation. That's the whole strategy," BelTA quotes Lukashenko.
According to him, the West seeks "to inflict a global defeat on Belarus and Russia and then sort out the territories and other things." "You understand what kind of mess, what kind of carnage will unfold on these lands," said Lukashenko. According to him, "this is how the prerequisites for a new redistribution of the European continent are being formed."
The president noted that the Belarusian opposition abroad "dreams of getting involved in this process." "Territorial redistribution was discussed during negotiations with our runaways. It was negotiated with them [Western representatives]," Lukashenko said. According to the Belarusian leader, Minsk has classified information about "what the chief of staff of a NATO member country thinks about this." Lukashenko paraphrased the thinking of the senior Western military official as follows: "We failed to involve Belarus in the conflict. Minsk's active participation in the war would undermine the regime in Belarus and Lukashenko. This option is still viable."
According to the Belarusian president, the Poles are simultaneously "gushing" that "the war in Ukraine gives them opportunities to effect regime change in Belarus." "To our runaways (representatives of the Belarusian opposition who are abroad - TASS). This is a quote," Lukashenko said. According to him, the desire to finally satisfy his long-standing territorial ambitions is behind these verbal games.
