Turkey, Russia to set date for High-Level Cooperation Council meeting soon, says envoy

The ambassador underlined that bilateral talks are held at all levels "in the sphere of political and economic cooperation as well as on other topics, including regional issues"

MOSCOW, July 15. /TASS/. The date for the next meeting of the Russian-Turkish High-Level Cooperation Council will be determined soon, Turkish Ambassador to Russia Mehmet Samsar said in an interview with TASS.

According to the diplomat, Moscow and Ankara are maintaining contacts even despite the pandemic. "If conditions permit, the meeting of the Russian-Turkish High-Level Cooperation Council will be held in Turkey this year," he noted. "The date for the meeting headed by the two leaders will be determined soon."

The ambassador underlined that bilateral talks are held at all levels "in the sphere of political and economic cooperation as well as on other topics, including regional issues."

"The day before yesterday, a phone call between our President [Recep Tayyip] Erdogan and [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin," he recalled. "In this light, it is expected that contacts to resume direct air travel will intensify."

The Russian-Turkish High-Level Cooperation Council was established by national leaders back in 2010 to oversee implementation of political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian projects.
