These exercises will involve live firing of AK-630 and A-190 artillery, as well as large-caliber machine guns, the embassy noted. The ships are expected to return to Chennai port on April 3.

On April 10, a group of Russian Navy warships will set sail again to continue their combat service tasks. The Pacific Fleet corvettes Rezky and Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov, along with the support vessel Pechenga, arrived in the southern Indian port on March 26.

The first Indra Navy exercise took place in May 2003 off India's west coast. Since then, the maneuvers have become a regular event, with the two countries alternating hosting duties. The most recent Indra exercises were held in July 2024 in the waters of the Gulf of Finland.
