Russia does not think ceasefire in Ukraine is now possible — first deputy ambassador to UN

The humanitarian corridors are not being used by Ukraine, Russia’s first deputy ambassador to the UN Dmitry Polyansky noted

UNITED NATIONS, April 25. /TASS/. Russia at the moment does not believe that a ceasefire is a possibility in Ukraine, because Kiev does not use the humanitarian corridors, Russia’s first deputy ambassador to the UN Dmitry Polyansky told the media on Monday.

"There was a call for a ceasefire. We opened humanitarian corridors, which are not being used by Ukraine. We do not think that ceasefire is an option right now, because the only advantage it will give will be an opportunity for the Ukrainian forces to regroup. To stage more provocations like Bucha," he said. "I don’t see any reasons [for a ceasefire].

Russian President Vladmir Putin on February 24 launched a special military operation in Ukraine following a request for hep from the leaders of two Donbass republics. He said Moscow had no plans for an occupation of Ukraine, its sole aims being the country’s demilitarization and denazification.
