Russian diplomat calls 15th EU anti-Russian sanctions package illegal

"Brussels continues to strike our country with decisions that, in fact, present an additional threat to global - not just Russian or European - but global energy security and the stability of international economic relations," Maria Zakharova noted

MOSCOW, December 18. /TASS/. The 15th package of anti-Russian sanctions adopted by the European Union (EU) poses a threat to global energy security and is illegal, said Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

"On December 16, the 15th package of restrictive measures targeting Russia was adopted. These measures are unlawful. They are aimed at both Russian and foreign economic operators and public figures," the diplomat stated. "Brussels continues to strike our country with decisions that, in fact, present an additional threat to global - not just Russian or European - but global energy security and the stability of international economic relations."

"These measures will be assessed in terms of the harm to the economic interests of our state, and a response to the European Union’s unjustifiable anti-Russian actions will not be long in coming," she added.

Earlier, the EU adopted the 15th package of sanctions, listing 54 individuals and 30 companies from Russia, China, and North Korea.
