Lukashenko says he is content with current opposition

The Belarusian leader noted that representatives of Belarusian media are currently in the middle of an information standoff

MINSK, November 7. /TASS/. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said that he is content with the current opposition, which does not enjoy the support of the people.

"Who will ever follow them in Belarus today? They have completely discredited themselves. Thank god that they are like that. I say our opposition must be cherished, nurtured, watered… Let it continue to be the way it is today," Lukashenko told reporters Monday.

He noted that representatives of Belarusian media are currently in the middle of an information standoff.

"You are at the front. And I am with you," Lukashenko said, urging reporters not to be afraid of anything.

"If they [the opponents of the authorities] begin to attack you, then it means that you hurt them. If they begin to cite you, say something, alright then, let them do it," Lukashenko said.

According to the Belarusian president, the opposition is unable to establish the informational agenda.

"This is why they started [their calls] about the missile strikes… Well, those are madmen. If they were politicians, then this cannot be said, even if you want it in your delusional dreams," the president said.
