Russian air regulator authorizes Red Wings for flights to Georgia’s Batumi

Rosaviatsiya also authorized the Azimuth air carrier to make flights to Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan

MOSCOW, December 12. /TASS/. The Red Wings airline has received an authorization to make five flights per week from Russia’s Kaluga to Batumi in Georgia, according to the order of the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) posted on its website.

Red Wings are already making direct flights to Georgia from eight Russian cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Samara, Sochi, Ufa, and Mineralnye Vody. The flight program expansion is primarily related to popularity of Georgian resorts among Russian tourists after the restart of the air service between the two countries, the airline said.

Rosaviatsiya also authorized the Azimuth air carrier to make flights to Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan. Azimuth received the clearance for flights to Riyadh twice per week from Mineralnye Vody and Sochi and to Karshi in Uzbekistan seven days per week from Mineralnye Vody.

"The Azimuth Airline is exploring the opportunity for making flights to Riyadh and Karshi. The starting date of flights has not been determined. The clearance from Rosaviatsiya is the initial phase to begin activities for receiving the authorization from aviation authorities of Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan," the air carrier’s press service told TASS.
