Talks on Ukraine are frozen by Kiev — Russian Security Council

As Nikolay Patrushev notes, Russia is interested in reaching political and diplomatic agreements as soon as possible,

MOSCOW, June 15. /TASS/. Russia is interested in reaching political and diplomatic agreements on Ukraine as soon as possible, but the negotiations remain frozen by Kiev, the secretary of Russia’s Security Council Nikolay Patrushev said at a meeting of the BRICS countries’ high representatives in charge of security issues on Wednesday.

"Russia is interested in reaching political and diplomatic agreements as soon as possible, which would make it possible to end hostilities. However, the negotiations between Moscow and Kiev are currently frozen by the Ukrainian side," Patrushev said.

"It was destructive actions by the United States, Britain and their allies that resulted in the termination of the Russian-Ukrainian dialogue," he added.

Patrushev recalled that Russia had for many years "hopelessly tried to drive the message home and warned the United States and NATO against encouraging Kiev's NATO membership ambitions, beefing up the country’s military muscle and fueling the belligerent, neo-Nazi and Russophobic sentiment of the Kiev regime."

"In a similar way Washington and London acted before the start of World War II. They preferred to ignore Hitler’s aggressive plans or even pander to them, hoping to direct the Nazi regime against Moscow, which ultimately led to the loss of tens of millions of lives," Patrushev stressed.
