MOSCOW, April 10. /TASS/. The international committee of Russia’s Federation Council (upper parliament house) has recommended that the Council endorse the parliamentary commission’s report on the probe into the activities of US biological laboratories in Ukraine at a plenary session on Wednesday, a committee source told TASS on Monday.
"We discussed [the commission’s report] behind closed doors. They recommended it for approval," the source said.
In March, both houses of Russia’s parliament decided to launch a parliamentary investigation into the activities of US biolaboratories in Ukraine and set up a corresponding commission of 14 lower house lawmakers and 14 senators. The commission’s co-chairs were Deputy speaker of the State Duma (lower parliament house) Irina Yarovaya and deputy speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev.
At its final meeting on March 22, the commission approved its final report, which, according to Kosachev, will be sent to the Russian president as well as the government. The report will be published as soon as it is approved by both parliamentary houses. He also said that the commission would continue its work in other formats.
According to Kosachev, the parliamentary commission has arrived at the conclusion that US biological programs are dual purpose in nature and can be used for military purposes. He also noted that the location of US biolabs is not accidental - they are located in those areas where NATO contingents are to be deployed and in this way pave the way for a potential military offensive against Russia.
