LONDON, April 22. /TASS/. Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the negotiations between Russia and the United States on the conflict in Ukraine difficult and time-consuming.
"There is a lot of hard work going on. We're talking to the Americans. The process is difficult and time-consuming. You should not expect immediate results, this work cannot be carried out publicly," Peskov said as quoted by the Financial Times.
A representative of the US State Department told the newspaper that he could not provide information on the essence of the negotiations.
The publication also quoted an unnamed senior Ukrainian official as saying that Kiev positively perceives some of the settlement ideas proposed by US President Donald Trump and his team. However, he did not specify which of the American leader's initiatives he was talking about.
The New York Post previously reported that Trump's plan may include deploying European troops to Kiev-controlled territories. Also, the issue of creating a "joint commission" is being considered, which will include representatives of Russia, Ukraine and a third non-NATO country to monitor the ceasefire.
