SIRIUS /federal territory/, November 12. /TASS/. Libya hopes that Donald Trump, who won the US presidential election, will fulfill his campaign promises to stop conflicts, Acting Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Libyan Government of National Unity Taher al-Bawr said in an interview with TASS on the sidelines of the First Russia-Africa Ministerial Conference.
"Usually, the policies of American presidents in their first term are different from their policies in their second term. Perhaps Trump will be more realistic and transparent in this term. During the election campaign, he talked about ending conflicts and wars in the region. We hope that he will fulfill these promises," he noted.
He noted that the Libyan leadership has no relations with the Ukrainian regime. "Because of the war that is currently going on in Ukraine, there are no relations between the Libyan government and the authorities in Ukraine," Taher al-Bawr said.
According to him, the situation in Gaza has exposed the double standards of some countries in the international community.
"On October 7 last year, many positions in the Middle East region changed. What we saw in Gaza removed all the masks from the international community that talked about human rights and international rights. The issue of double standards in our society has become even more obvious," he said.
