MOSCOW, November 29. /TASS/. No road traffic accidents with self-driving trucks have been registered since they started haulage on the M-11 Neva highway this June, the press service of the Russian Transport Ministry told TASS.
"Cargo connected and automated vehicles started haulage on the M-11 Neva highway in June 2023 and no road traffic accidents with their participation have been registered by now," the press service said.
Haulage by remotely operated trucks is carried out regularly by such local carriers and retailers as PEK, Globaltruck Logistic, National Carrier, Agro-Avto (X5), Magnit, SberAutoTech and Gazpromneft-Supply. More than 11,000 tons of cargoes have been carried to the distance of over 600,000 km by now, the ministry added.
"The first results of the experiment have shown huge potential of self-driving commercial haulage. The participants of the experiment express fixed interest in developing and expanding the geography of remotely piloted haulage," the ministry noted.
Russian self-driving trucks produced by Kamaz and SberAutoTech started haulage carrying commercial cargoes on the M-11 highway in June. Meanwhile, self-driving trucks are accompanied by test engineers.
