Russia to continue helping Minsk with fuel for nuclear plant — PM

This project will significantly improve the environmental situation and will drive further development of science-intensive branches of industry, Mikhail Mishustin noted

MOSCOW, November 29. /TASS/. Moscow will continue helping Minsk with support of operations of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant, including providing it with fuel, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at the meeting of the Union State’s Council of Ministers.

"We are proactively cooperating in the energy sphere. A milestone event took place at the start of the month. The acceptance certificate of the second unit of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant was signed on November 1. This is our largest common project, designed for the strategic perspective," Mishustin said. "Russia will continue providing required assistance in operation and fuel supplies," the Prime Minister said.

This project will significantly improve the environmental situation and will drive further development of science-intensive branches of industry, Mishustin noted. "The plant is operating normally. More than 20 bln kWh of electricity have already been generated. Nuclear and radiation safety is provided in line with the highest standards," he said.
