ANKARA, November 28. /TASS/. The US side has sent a veiled threat to Turkish entrepreneurs that continuing to do business with Russia may have consequences down the line, the Aydinlik newspaper wrote citing an unnamed top representative in the republic’s Foreign Economic Relations Board.
The Turkish side has received "a long letter" from the US which urges "prudent traders [in Turkey] to follow the rules, he said. The message, which the source regards as a threat, also allegedly stresses that "at this point nothing will occur, but in the future, depending on the course of the war [in Ukraine] it is impossible to say what may happen." In the message to Turkish businesses, the American side allegedly threatens "to bust any [company] using US software and having trade relations with them."
Aydinlik posted the information amid the upcoming visit of US Under Secretary of the Treasury Brian Nelson to Turkey. He intends to discuss restrictions on Russia, the press service of the US Department of the Treasury said. In Turkey, Nelson plans to discuss how to prevent, as well as investigate trade and financial activity.
