WARSAW, April 27. /TASS/. The Polish authorities do not intend to buy gas from Russian companies any more, Polish Government Plenipotentiary for Strategic Energy Infrastructure Piotr Naimski said in an interview broadcast by the RMF radio station on Wednesday.
Asked whether Poland might purchase gas from Russia in some foreseeable future, he said: "No. We will not buy gas from the Russian side, Russian companies. The end." Poland has been preparing for abandoning Russian gas for six years, Naimski noted.
The official does not expect any difficulties with providing Polish consumers with gas. "I can promise that gas will be provided unless external conditions change. Unless some cataclysm occurs, in the conditions that can be projected gas supplies will be provided," he said.
Earlier reports said that Gazprom refused to continue delivering gas to Poland under the Yamal contract after the Polish side rejected paying for gas in rubles. According to Naimski, Poland’s gas imports under this contract recently amounted to 9 bln cubic meters of gas per year.
