UN secretary-general keeps track of Russia-US meeting in Saudi Arabia — spokesman

Russian and US delegations are expected to meet in Riyadh on February 18 to discuss the restoration of bilateral relations, preparations for talks on Ukrainian settlement and a meeting between the leaders

UNITED NATIONS, February 17. /TASS/. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is keeping track of the meeting between senior Russian and US officials scheduled for Tuesday in Saudi Arabia, his spokesman Stephane Dujarric said.

"Of course, we're keeping track of the meeting and any dialog between member states, any dialogue, especially between two permanent members of the Security Council, with the role that we all know they play, is critical," he said. "We will have to see what comes out of that meeting."

Russian and US delegations are expected to meet in Riyadh on February 18 to discuss the restoration of bilateral relations, preparations for talks on Ukrainian settlement and a meeting between presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia and Donald Trump of the US. Russia will be represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov. According to CNN, the US delegation will include US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and White House Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff.
