VIENNA, November 28. /TASS/. Interpol has more member countries than the United Nations, and the organization expects to welcome more nations, Interpol President Ahmed Nasser al-Raisi said in an interview with TASS.

"The country that’s coming is Palau. Hopefully, in the future, [more] countries will come. We are the largest organization. We will be 196. More than the UN," al-Raisi said ahead of the 91st Interpol General Assembly.

According to him, Interpol always welcomes new members. "It’s very important for us that we don’t leave a place for the criminals to hide," he explained.

At present, Interpol includes 195 member countries, while there are currently 193 member states in the United Nations.

An UAE national, al-Raisi took office as Interpol president in November 2021.

The 91st Interpol General Assembly will take place in Vienna on November 28 - December 1. It will mark the 100th anniversary of the creation of the organization in the Austrian capital.
