MOSCOW, April 25. /TASS/. Six members of the National Socialism/White Power nationalist terror group were detained under suspicion of preparation of assassination of journalist Vladimir Solovyov by blowing up his car, the Russian Investigative Committee press office told TASS Monday.
"During the investigation of the case of obstruction of journalist Vladimir Solovyov’s professional duties, the investigators <…>, together with Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) determined people who were preparing to assassinate him. The crime was supposed to take place in Moscow via detonation of the journalist’s car," the Committee said, adding that criminal case was opened against the six detained over charges of attempted murder.
"The investigation intends to appeal to the court to get them arrested," the Committee said.
During the searches, the investigators seized improvised explosive device (IED) components, what is believed to be the bomb itself, multiple firearms and ammunition, Nazi insignia and narcotic substances.
"The investigators also seized fake Ukrainian passports with wrong personal information, which were to be used once the crime is committed," the Committee said.
Previously, Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) press office announced that several members of the "National Socialism/White Power" neo-Nazi terror group (outlawed in Russia) were detained. All of them are Russian citizens, who planned to assassinate journalist Vladimir Solovyov and hide abroad. They are currently making confession statements.
