Main Naval Parade in honor of Navy Day to be held in St. Petersburg and Kronstadt

According to the Kremlin, 45 ships, boats and submarines and about 3,000 servicemen will take part in this year's parade

ST. PETERSBURG, July 30. /TASS/. The Main Naval Parade in honor of Navy Day will be held in St. Petersburg and Kronstadt on Sunday with the participation of ships and auxiliary vessels.

The country's main naval holiday will also be celebrated in other coastal cities: in Vladivostok, Baltiysk, Severomorsk, Novorossiysk, Kaspiysk, as well as the Syrian port of Tartous.

St. Petersburg and Kronstadt

According to the Kremlin press service, the naval parade in St. Petersburg will traditionally be hosted by President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Armed Forces Vladimir Putin. The statement said that "the head of state will take a boat around the parade lines of warships in the waters of the Gulf of Finland, the Neva River and the Kronstadt roadstead, congratulating the personnel of their crews on the Navy Day."

According to the Kremlin, 45 ships, boats and submarines and about 3,000 servicemen will take part in this year's parade. It will end with a ceremonial march of parade formations of military personnel. In the evening of the Navy Day, there will be fireworks in St. Petersburg and Kronstadt.

The Neustrashimy fregate will pass along the Neva River. The Zeleny Dol corvette, the Velikie Luki submarine, the Yunarmeets Dagestana anti-sabotage boat and other vessels will also take part in the naval parade.

About holiday and parade

According to the Russian president’s decree dating back to May 31, 2006, the Navy Day is celebrated on the last Sunday of July. The practice of holding the Main Naval Parade on Navy Day will be resumed from 2017. The parade of ships is held on the Neva River in St. Petersburg and in the Kronshtadt roadstead. Ships and submarines of all four fleets, as well as the Caspian Flotilla, take part.

In 2022, more than 40 ships, boats and submarines, as well as 42 aircraft and more than 3,500 servicemen took part in the Main Naval Parade.
