Hainan launches production of medical face masks amid coronavirus

The equipment was purchased on a short notice in the city of Dongguan, according to Xinhua

HAIKOU, February 15. /TASS/. Hainan launched its first local medical face mask production line amid coronavirus outbreak, Xinhua reported.

According to the news agency, the production will be conducted by the local company Honz Pharmaceutical, which uses advanced technologies from the US, Germany, Switzerland and Japan. Equipment for the new manufacture was purchased in the city of Dongguan (in the Guangdong province).

The factory is located in the administrative center of the island — the city of Haikou, its conveyor will be making up to 40,000 face masks per day. The distribution of products manufactured at the new plant will be carried out by the Hainan administration. According to the authorities, first of all, the masks will be delivered to doctors and nurses struggling with pneumonia epidemic.

According to the local authorities, the equipment on this production line was installed in a day. Five days later, the operator company received a license for medical face masks production in the Hainan province.

According to official statistics, the number of people infected with coronavirus on the island of Hainan reached 162, 38 residents have recovered. The situation is gradually getting back to normal: over the past day only a few new cases of infection were detected in two of the 15 main cities and counties of the province. What is more, in two administrative units — in the city of Wuzhishan and the county of Tunchen in the central part of the region - not a single patient was registered from the very beginning of the detection of an outbreak of the virus in China. Thanks to timely measures, local authorities are quite successfully struggling with the spread of pneumonia.
