MOSCOW, December 1. /TASS/. A severe snowstorm is forecast to hit the Russian capital on Sunday, the Emergencies Ministry’s Moscow department told TASS.
"According to forecasts from Roshydromet (the Russian Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring - TASS), snowfall (sometimes heavy), blizzard, snow drifts and icy conditions on the roads are expected to hit Moscow on December 3 between 10:00 a.m. local time (7:00 a.m. GMT) and midnight," the department said.
Emergency services in Moscow recommend that car owners driving in harsh weather conditions slow down, keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of them and avoid abrupt maneuvers (passing, changing lanes and speeding), as well as not parking their vehicles under trees. Pedestrians are advised to stay away from billboards and rickety structures and not to seek shelter under trees.
