Russia’s Progress MS-30 carrying new suit, equipment, other cargo docks at ISS

The spacecraft delivered 2,599 kg of various cargoes to the ISS

MOSCOW, March 2. /TASS/. The Progress MS-30 space freighter, which was launched from the Baikonur space center on Friday, has docked with the Zvezda module of the Russian segment of the International Space Station (ISS), Russia’s state-run space corporation Roscosmos reported.

The process was managed by the Flight Control Center’s specialist on Earth and by Roscosmos cosmonauts Ivan Vagner (special TASS correspondent), Alexey Ovchinin, and Alexander Gorbunov aboard the ISS.

The spacecraft delivered 2,599 kg of various cargoes to the ISS, including 1,179 kg of equipment, stowage for scientific experiments, clothing, food, medical and hygienic sets for the crew, 950 kg of refueling propellant, 420 kg of potable water for cosmonauts, and 50 kg of nitrogen to replenish the ISS atmosphere.

The new Orlan-ISS No. 6 spacesuit for cosmonauts’ spacewalks has been delivered to the station. This model differs from the previous Orlan-MK version by a new inner containment shell made of high-tech fabric with a long service life, as well as a new automated water cooling system, which automatically maintains the most comfortable temperature for the operator. Moreover, a new information display system is installed on the spacesuit.

The spacecraft also delivered stowage for conducting the Aseptic, Biodegradation, Virtual, Cascade, Lasma, Mirage, Neuroimmunity and Photobioreactor scientific experiments to the ISS.

The Progress MS is a Russian automated cargo spacecraft developed specially for servicing orbital stations. It is used to deliver various cargo to the orbital outpost (propellant, scientific equipment, oxygen, potable water, food and other items), and also to adjust its orbit.
