MOSCOW, June 30. /TASS/. Revaccination against the novel coronavirus as well as vaccination of those who have already had COVID-19 has begun in the Russian regions, the Russian Health Ministry’s press center told reporters on Wednesday.
"Russia’s Health Ministry has approved the provisional guidelines ‘Procedure for vaccination of the adult population against COVID-19.’ Revaccinations and vaccinations of recovered individuals have begun in the regions," the statement says.
Under the guidelines, made available to TASS, an individual can get vaccinated or revaccinated with any vaccine approved in the country. However, if a patient develops serious adverse symptoms when receiving the first dose, the vaccine can be replaced with another, if it is available, on request and if there are no contraindications.
It was noted that both revaccination and vaccination six months after the disease is recommended in Russia until herd immunity is achieved, a period called "emergency vaccination". Having achieved the designated targeted threshold of herd immunity, it will be possible to switch to "routine vaccination" 12 months after the disease or revaccination.
