WASHINGTON, July 25. /TASS/. The US Department of Defense announced signing an over $307.5 million contract with Raytheon-Lockheed Martin joint venture for the production of Javelin anti-tank missile systems for a number of foreign countries, including Ukraine.
"Raytheon-Lockheed Martin Javelin JV, Tucson, Arizona, was awarded a $307,535,950 modification… to Foreign Military Sales (Australia, Estonia, Lithuania, Turkey Taiwan and Ukraine) contract… for Javelin Weapon System full-rate production," the US Department of Defense said in a statement.
In late April, a spokesperson for the US Department of State confirmed that the US administration had sent a first batch of Javelin anti-tank missile systems to the Ukrainian authorities.
Ukraine’s President Pyotr Poroshenko later confirmed that Ukraine received a batch of US-made Javelin anti-tank missile systems. However, he did not say many Javelin systems had been supplied to Ukraine.
In early May, Commander of the Ukrainian army’s Joint Forces Operation (JFO) in Donbass Sergei Nayev said his troops had no US-made Javelin anti-tank missile systems.
Poroshenko officially declared on April 30 that the anti-terror operation in Donbass was completed and the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) kicked off.
