BERLIN, March 6. /TASS/. The European Union has a strong basis which cannot be shaken by the present US administration, Jurgen Hardt, Coordinator of Germany’s Transatlantic Relations, told TASS on Monday.
"The European Union is facing a number of challenges at the moment," the government official said, citing "Brexit, populist trends in some countries, an ongoing migration crisis even if it has eased to a certain extent, in addition to continuing financial risks."
"But the European Union has a strong basis and framework, and the current political leadership in the United States cannot influence this," the politician emphasized.
According to him, the EU can become stronger if European leaders take the road of European integration. In this case, eurosceptics within the administration of US President Donald Trump will also recognize the need to cooperate with Brussels, Jurgen Hardt believes.
