Putin describes floating out of Perm nuclear sub as milestone for Russian Navy

"It is supposed to enter service with the Russian Navy and to start performing its combat tasks next year," the president added

MURMANSK, March 28. /TASS/. The floating out of the Perm nuclear submarine, armed with Tsirkon hypersonic cruise missiles, is a milestone in the development of the Russian Navy, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during the ceremony.

In his address, Putin described the launch of the fifth sub in the Yasen-M project as "a milestone event."

"It is supposed to enter service with the Russian Navy and to start performing its combat tasks next year," the president added.

"Yasen-M-class submarines are equipped with modern navigation, communication and hydroacoustic systems. They carry high-precision weapons and are fitted with robotic equipment," the Russian supreme commander-in-chief said. "The Perm has become the first multipurpose submarine to carry Tsirkon hypersonic cruise missiles."

He thanked those who designed and built the submarine for their "scrupulous and high-quality work.".
