MOSCOW, March 30. /TASS/. The oceanic voyage of iconic Russian traveler Fyodor Konyukhov from South America to Australia ended on the 115th day due to numerous faults of his rowing boat, the Telegram channel of the expedition center said.
The voyager was taken on board of a cargo ship sailing to China’s Qingdao, the center informed.
"We have just received information that your father safely came on board of the Ore Hong Kong bulk carrier. We are not aware whether the Akros boat was managed to be lifted on board," head of the center Oskar Konyukhov said, citing a message from the search and rescue coordination center at Reunion.
Despite the end of the voyage, Fyodor Konyukhov became the first individual in the history who managed to cross the South Atlantic in a rowing boat along the most challenging and dangerous route in the Howling Fifties and the Roaring Forties. He reached the Indian Ocean in 68 days when traveling from South America.
