MOSCOW, June 10./TASS/. The presidents of Russia and Turkmenistan, Vladimir Putin and Serdar Berdimuhamedov, signed a declaration on deepening partnership of the two countries at their talks at the Kremlin on Friday.
Relations between Russia and Turkmenistan are truly strategic, President Putin stressed prior to the talks.
"We are developing relations along all trajectories, and it is very pleasant to note that they are indeed strategic, not formally but in essence," Putin said. "A very big job" is being done within the framework of President Berdimuhamedov’s visit, he stressed, expressing confidence that it will benefit the development of bilateral relations.
This visit to Russia is President Berdimuhamedov’s first official trip abroad since he took office. On March 15, Turkmenistan’s Central Election Commission said Serdar Berdimuhamedov had won the early presidential election, held on March 12, collecting 72.97% of the votes.
