Sanctions against Russia on G7 summit agenda, German official says

The G7 leaders also to talk about financial assistance to Ukraine

BERLIN, June 20. /TASS/. The G7 summit to be held in southern Germany later this month will focus on the situation in Ukraine and the impact of anti-Russian sanctions, a source in the German government said on Monday.

Four working sessions are planned for the first day of the summit, to be held at Schloss Elmau from June 26 to June 28. Foreign policy and security issues will be discussed at one of them.

"Anti-Russian sanctions will be discussed," with Ukraine being a priority, the source said. The German government has pointed to "substantial consequences" of the sanctions for Russia in terms of its economic and defense capabilities.

"Energy-related issues and an oil embargo will be discussed," the source said. The G7 leaders will also talk about financial assistance to Ukraine.
