Security agents detain man in southern Russia on suspicion of treason

It has been established that the person started to exchange messages with the personnel of the Security Service of Ukraine in March 2022

STAVROPOL, March 14. /TASS/. A man has been detained in Russia’s southern region of Stavropol on suspicion of committing treason by working for the Security Service of Ukraine, the regional office of the Russian Federal Security Service said on Tuesday.

"The office of the Federal Security Service in the Stavropol Region has documented illegal activities of a region’s resident involved in treason. <…>. At the direction of Ukrainian special services, the citizen collected and transferred photo materials about railway stations and military units in the Stavropol Region. The perpetrator has been detained by the service’s personnel," the service, known as the FSB, said in a statement.

It has been established that the person started to exchange messages with the personnel of the Security Service of Ukraine in March 2022. The man volunteered to provide assistance with inflicting damage to the security of the Russian Federation.

The man is being investigated on charges of high treason, and is facing up to 20 years in jail if convicted. The investigation is ongoing as evidence is being compiled.
