TEL AVIV, August 10. /TASS/. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party is projected to win the upcoming parliamentary election, receiving 33 seats out of 120, according to a survey conducted by Next Data on a request from the C14 TV channel.
His main political rival Gadi Eisenkot’s Yashar party is expected to get 23 seats in the Knesset if elections took place around this time.
A total of 55% respondents support Netanyahu, and 45% - Eisenkot, the television reported.
The survey projects that parties that make up the current ruling coalition, led by Netanyahu, are to get 62 seats in the 120-seat parliament in total. If the elections took place around this time, the premier would have an opportunity to form a coalition and appoint a new government.
Likud had 32 seats in the previous parliament.
On July 17, the Knesset passed the Party Financing Law, which contained a provision on the official dissolution of the unicameral parliament in the run-up to the October 27 early parliamentary elections. The 25th convocation of the Israeli parliament finished its term by going on the parliamentary recess on the same day.
Netanyahu will remain the head of the Israeli government until the new government takes oath.
