Russian lawmakers to call on UN to assess Kiev’s crimes against children

The draft address refers to Ukraine’s violations of the Convention on the Rights of the Child

MOSCOW, December 6. /TASS/. Russian lawmakers will call on the United Nations to work with the Russian parliamentary commission investigating Kiev’s crimes against children, according to the Russian Federal Assembly’s (parliament) draft address to the UN, international parliamentary organizations and the world’s parliaments.

"Members of the Russian State Duma (the lower house) and senators urge the United Nations, international parliamentary organizations and the world’s parliament to give a legal, moral and ethical assessment of the Kiev regime’s crimes against minors and engage with the Russian parliamentary commission investigating Kiev’s crimes against minors, which was formed by the Russian Federal Assembly, in order to pool efforts to prevent an impending disaster and save children in the armed conflict area," the legislators said in the document, dedicated to Ukraine’s violations of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The draft address was submitted to the State Duma by its Deputy Speaker Anna Kuznetsova and the lower chamber’s Committee on International Affairs.

On June 20, the State Duma passed a resolution on a parliamentary investigation into the Kiev regime’s crimes against children. The Federation Council (the upper house) supported the initiative. The relevant commission, which includes 13 Federation Council members and 13 State Duma members, was created for a period of up to one year and will present the outcome of its investigation to the country’s leadership.
