MOSCOW, February 17. /TASS/. The Sotnik third-generation soldier combat outfit being developed by the Central Research Institute of Precision Machine-Building (TsNIITochMash, part of the state tech corporation Rostec) may get autonomous electric heat systems, the Rostec press office told TASS on Wednesday.
"The outfits designed for their use by special operations units in the Army, special services and the Russian Navy’s subversive and reconnaissance squads may get the corresponding equipment. A decision on including the equipment in the outfits will be made by the customer of the military gear," Rostec said, noting that TsNIITochMash as the leading designer of combat outfits had the necessary competences.
It was earlier reported that TsNIITochMash would launch work on the Sotnik combat outfit in 2021. The new combat gear will include completely new munitions and small arms, and also micro-drones that will be connected to the automatic tactical-level command and control system.
Images from their cameras will be projected to the helmet visor or protective goggles. Innovation materials and the combined functions of some elements will reduce the combat outfit’s weight by 20% to about 20 kg. The Sotnik third-generation combat gear is expected to replace the operational Ratnik soldier outfits already in 2025.
