Russia’s foreign debt declines to $290 bln as of January 1 — Central Bank

MOSCOW, March 28. /TASS/. The foreign debt of Russia contracted by $18.8 bln from the start of the fourth quarter of 2024 to $290.234 bln as of January 1, 2025, the Central Bank said.

"The foreign debt of the Russian Federation totaled $290 bln as of January 1, 2025 (13.5% to GDP for the last twelve months, having declined by $18.8 bln since the start of the fourth quarter of 2024. The foreign debt dynamics was largely driven by contraction of the debt to nonresidents under sovereign securities, which caused the decrease of external liabilities of government executive authorities by 36.5%," the regulator said.

The foreign det of Russia stood at $318.289 bln as of January 1, 2024.
