Russia, China say US military activity behind escalation on Korean Peninsula — MFA

"Both sides stressed that such provocative actions threaten peace and stability in Northeast Asia," the ministry stated

MOSCOW, March 28. / TASS/. Moscow and Beijing consider the military activity of Washington and its allies to be the main cause of rising tensions on the Korean Peninsula, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement following consultations between Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko and Chinese Government Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Affairs Liu Xiaoming.

"The parties noted the similarity and alignment of their assessments regarding the causes of the escalation on the Korean Peninsula, primarily the ongoing military activity of the United States and its allies, including their drills simulating large-scale war scenarios against North Korea involving nuclear weapons. Both sides stressed that such provocative actions threaten peace and stability in Northeast Asia," the ministry stated.
