ISTANBUL, November 7. /TASS/. Israel's war crimes in Gaza are on the same scale as the genocide that occurred in Srebrenica (in the former Yugoslavia) in the 1990s, Omer Celik, spokesman for Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), said in Ankara after a meeting of the AKP executive committee chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The broadcast was carried by the TRT Haber TV channel.
"We are facing a genocide similar to that of Srebrenica. Gaza has been bombed relentlessly for 32 days, the number of victims has risen to 10,000, more than 4,000 children among them. Israel is committing war crimes that cannot be called anything other than genocide," Celik said, accusing the international community of inaction.
"[Benjamin] Netanyahu is trying to criminalize the Palestinian problem. All international structures are having their humanity tested. The Europeans think they can solve this problem by watching from the sidelines. Netanyahu is now doing the same thing the Nazis did, committing war crimes," Celik said.
The representative of Erdogan's party stated the need for an immediate ceasefire as the foundation to settling the conflict between Israel and Palestine and solving the Palestinian problem on the basis of the recognition of two states, a point of emphasis for Ankara. They also propose a system of guarantor countries to resolve the crisis and declare their readiness to mediate in this process.
Moreover, Celik advocated the removal of obstacles to the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. "A minimum of 500 truckloads of humanitarian aid should be delivered to Gaza per day; in 32 days [since the start of the conflict], only 450 truckloads have arrived there," he noted.
