Antalya airport resumes operations after incident involving Russian plane

Late on November 24, a Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100, operated by Azimuth airline, was making Flight A45051 from Russia’s Black Sea resort of Sochi and caught fire while landing at Antalya Airport

ISTANBUL, November 25. /TASS/. Antalya Airport has resumed accepting flights after a recent incident involving a Russian plane operated by an airline called Azimuth, its online scoreboard shows.

Earlier, Turkey's Ministry of Transport announced the suspension of aircraft arrivals until 03:00 Monday (local time, corresponding to Moscow time). Following this, dozens of flights were diverted to other airports in Turkey, including those in Ankara and Izmir.

Late on November 24, a Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100, operated by Azimuth airline, was making Flight A45051 from Russia’s Black Sea resort of Sochi and caught fire while landing at Antalya Airport.

No injuries have been reported. All 89 passengers and the six-member crew were evacuated from the aircraft using inflatable ramps.

The Russian consulate general in Antalya reported that Russia’s air transport regulator, Rosaviatsiya, and Azimuth provided the necessary assistance to the passengers. Some were able to safely leave the airport, while others decided to wait for baggage claim. They were provided with food. Those who were to return to Russia were accommodated in a hotel until the arrival of the reserve flight, the consulate general specified.
