Senior US military commander highlights 'thousands of lessons' from operation in Iran

There's no military in the world that makes adjustments as well as the United States military does, Brad Cooper said

WASHINGTON, May 15. /TASS/. The United States has learned `thousands of lessons’ from its operation in Iran, which resulted in tactical adjustments and allowed the US military to improve defenses, US Central Command (CENTCOM) chief Admiral Brad Cooper said in a statement.

"It’s fair to say that we have captured thousands of lessons, mostly tactical. I think there's no military in the world that makes adjustments as well as the United States military does," the senior US military commander said at a Senate hearing on Thursday.

"We took a very hard look inward to see where can we improve our defenses," Cooper continued. "We made a significant number of adjustments to enhance what was already a very effective air defense umbrella," he added.

The United States and Israel launched the war against Iran on February 28. On April 7, US President Donald Trump announced a two-week mutual ceasefire. According to Iran, 3,375 Iranians have been killed in US-Israeli strikes during the 40 days of the hostilities. On April 11, Tehran and Washington held talks in Islamabad, but the parties failed to reach an agreement on a long-term settlement to the conflict due to a number of disagreements. On April 21, the US leader announced his intention to extend the ceasefire with Iran. According to Iran’s state television, Tehran does not intend to recognize Washington’s unilateral ceasefire extension and will act in accordance with its own interests.
