Over 2,740 US citizens travel to Russia since start of 2026

The figure is higher than during the same period in 2025 by nearly 190

MOSCOW, May 16. /TASS/. More than 2,740 US citizens traveled to Russia in the first quarter of 2026, which is nearly 190 more than during the same period in 2025, according to data reviewed by TASS.

From January to March 2026, a total of 2,743 US citizens entered Russia. Nearly half of them (1,027 people) listed tourism as the purpose of their trip. Another 861 Americans traveled for private reasons, while 540 cited business purposes. A total of 201 US citizens said they came to Russia for work and 21 for study. Another 87 arrived as service personnel, while six transited through the country. Most US travelers entered Russia by air (2,562 people), while 85 crossed by road.

The number of US citizens traveling to Russia increased compared with the same period last year. Between January and March 2025, 2,556 Americans entered the country, with tourism as their most frequently cited purpose of travel.

US citizens can enter Russia only with a visa issued on the basis of an invitation. Since June 30, 2025, travelers have also been required to obtain a personal QR code through the RuID system. There are no direct flights between the two countries, making layovers necessary.
