BEIJING, November 17. /TASS/. Russian and Chinese relevant companies continue discussing the terms of gas supplies from Russia to China via Mongolia within the framework of the Soyuz Vostok project, Russian Ambassador to Beijing Igor Morgulov told Russian journalists on Thursday.

"The project on supplies of natural gas from Russia to China through Mongolian territory is developing gradually," he said. "As far as the terms of gas supplies are concerned, the dialogue between relevant companies of our countries is underway," the diplomat added.

Gazprom said in February 2022 that the design stage for the Soyuz-Vostok gas pipeline that will run through Mongolia to China, had started. The capacity of the pipeline is around 50 bln cubic meters of gas per year. Construction works under the project are scheduled for 2024, whereas the commissioning is expected in 2027-2028.
